'Simpsons' Creator: Fox News Threatened To Sue Show: "Groening told National Public Radio that the cable network threatened to sue the show because in one of its episodes, it featured a news crawl that used the Fox News logo. The crawl highlighted such fake news headlines as 'Rupert Murdoch: Terrific Dancer ... Dow down 5000 points ... Study: 92 percent of Democrats are gay ... JFK posthumously joins Republican Party ... Oil slicks found to keep seals young, supple ...' Fox denies it threatened to sue 'The Simpsons.' Groening told NPR that the show got away with it this time, but from now on Fox has a new rule saying it can't do it again. " Kung Faux - Comic Video DVD This is the funniest shit I've seen in a LONG time. :) Here are some video samples. Fox News Channel producer on bias in the newsroom: "The fact is, daily life at FNC is all about management politics. I say this having served six years there - as producer of the media criticism show, News Watch, as a writer/producer of specials and (for the last year of my stay) as a newsroom copy editor. Not once in the 20+ years I had worked in broadcast journalism prior to Fox - including lengthy stays at The Associated Press, CBS Radio and ABC/Good Morning America - did I feel any pressure to toe a management line. But at Fox, if my boss wasn't warning me to 'be careful' how I handled the writing of a special about Ronald Reagan ('You know how Roger [Fox News Chairman Ailes] feels about him.'), he was telling me how the environmental special I was to produce should lean ('You can give both sides, but make sure the pro-environmentalists don't get the last word.')"

Burson-Marsteller to Use Cyveillance Technology: "Burson-Marsteller, a global communications and public relations firm, is creating an alliance with Cyveillance to allow Burson-Marsteller's corporate and institutional clients to track and respond to that which is being said about them across the Internet. Cyveillance's technology is capable of scouring the entire Internet at high speed to locate, filter and prioritize company or institution-specific dialogue, offering clients the ability to address potential issues such as negative comments about the corporation, a brand, or their service reputations. " Forbes.com: Inside Dope: An excellent, in-depth article about the Canadian cannabis growing industry, by Forbes, nonetheless. It makes British Columbia sound like a nice place to live. " Recently the U.S. Supreme Court, in refusing to disturb an appeals court ruling, gave its approval to doctors who want to discuss with patients the use of marijuana for certain diseases. That was good news for a multibillion industry that has sprung up in British Columbia, Canada--dope growers. " Albert sez: "'If A is a success in life, then A equals x plus y plus z. Work is x; y is play; and z is keeping your mouth shut.' " Optical processors now a reality.: "A superfast computing processor that uses light, not electrons, to perform calculations has gone on sale for the first time. Lenslet, the Israeli company that developed the processor, say its light speed calculations deliver the power of a supercomputer in a single device. The device is called Enlight and can perform 8000 billion arithmetic operations per second, about 1000 times faster than a standard processor. Previously this type of processor was only available to highly financed government laboratories, says Lenslet's founder, Aviram Sariel."

Monkeys show sense of justice: "Researchers taught brown capuchin monkeys to swap tokens for food. Usually they were happy to exchange this 'money' for cucumber. But if they saw another monkey getting a grape - a more-liked food - they took offence. Some refused to work, others took the food and refused to eat it. Scientists say this work suggests that human's sense of justice is inherited and not a social construct. " Day trips...: "According to occult analyst Richard Metzger, there's growing interest in psychedelics in various U.S. cities -- especially for DMT and Salvia Divinorum, which cause intense hallucinations lasting less than an hour. Metzger says the renewed interest in psychedelics is happening 'because they work' but insists it isn't just for kicks. He says 21st century day-trippers are 'travelers, not tourists,' and looking to access other realms for personal, creative and spiritual growth."

Dark energy is unassailable now and that was not the case a year ago.' These results confirm that 70 per cent of the Universe is dark energy, 25 per cent traditional dark matter and just five per cent ordinary matter, such as makes up Earth and the stars."

E-fluentials: "Burson-Marsteller has identified persuasive individuals who defy the limits of traditional viral marketing and spread the word about a company, brand or product to an average of 14 people. These are e-fluentials, defined according to their intensive use of e-mail, chat rooms, message boards, company and opinion Web sites. They make up 10% of the U.S. online adult population (11 million), but reach a total of 155 million U.S. adults online or offline as they tell on their experiences. E-fluentials are socially and politically engaged and vocal citizens in cyber and traditional spheres. They frequently interact with well-known news and media organizations. In doing so, e-fluentials connect the dots between companies, media organizations, policy makers and consumers." Radiohead critiqued: "Radiohead, the kings nerdy, boring, tuneless rock music, are on top of the world. They’ve proven time and time again that they can piss directly into your open mouths, and you’ll frolic and gargle in the yellow stream like God himself was giving you a nectar-bath. Loathsome pseudo-intellectual college boys used to have ponytails; now they have Radiohead. God help you, you stupid, gullible infants. " ![]() You are Sparks. You care about Sealab only because it's full of fools to take advantage of. Which Sealab 2021 character are you? brought to you by Quizilla The Yale Herald - Oct 24, 2003 - Of skulls and bones: More secrets of the tomb: "Supposing the grave-robbing allegations are true, why would the Skull and Bones be interested in the head of Geronimo? Robbins suggests that the answer lies in their name. 'Bones as a society is preoccupied with death; skulls, skeletons, and artwork depicting death are prevalent in the tomb. When Bonesmen steal things they use the euphemism that they are taking 'gifts to the goddess' whom they honor within the tomb.' The focus on death is not arbitrary. The society emphasizes mortality in order to illustrate the necessity of success. Robbins, herself a member of Scroll and Key, attests to the centrality of ritualized stealing in many of the societies at Yale. Each class attempts to outdo its predecessor in the acquisition of valuables. In addition to Geronimo's skull, the Bonesmen's tomb is rumored to contain the skull of Pancho Villa and Adolf Hitler's silverware." Douglas Rushkoff is trying out for keyboard player in a new incarnation of Psychic TV: Whoa. That's pretty interesting.... "I'm going to my first rehearsal tomorrow as the keyboard player for a newly formed reincarnation of Psychic TV, with Genesis P-Orridge. It's a humbling prospect. Although it won't be my first time playing with a band, it will be my first time playing with a band in a couple of decades, and my first time playing with a band that people actually listen to by choice. I will let you know what happens, and if they decide to keep me. First gig, sometime in December." |
