Why Does Sims Online Remind Me of Playing Barbie dolls?

Maybe because we share similar story lines...

DARPA technology designed to track every vehicle in a city

Geez, don't these guys ever stop fellating the devil for one single minute? New technology from DARPA called "Combat Zones that See" uses a giant network of cameras to monitor all the traffic in a city, and software analyzes the feeds to track vehicles, drivers (by face recognition) and passengers as well. Of course, it's only approved for use in "military operations" on "foriegn soil", but I think that we can all guess how long that will last, as long as Bush and his cronies are in office.

Bush's emotional manipulation of the electorate by liguistics

"President Bush, like many dominant personality types, uses dependency-creating language. He employs language of contempt and intimidation to shame others into submission and desperate admiration. While we tend to think of the dominator as using physical force, in fact most dominators use verbal abuse to control others. Abusive language has been a major theme of psychological researchers on marital problems, such as John Gottman, and of philosophers and theologians, such as Josef Pieper. But little has been said about the key role it has come to play in political discourse, and in such "hot media" as talk radio and television. "

Musicians Say No to The RIAA

This week the RIAA announced that it will now be pursuing lawsuits against individual music lovers using peer-to-peer(P2P) file-sharing networks. We as musicians wish to state our objection to the RIAA's action, and have issued the statement below, which we would encourage all who are concerned to sign using the form below. Libel protection for online communities and forums

"The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled last Tuesday that Web loggers, website operators and e-mail list editors can't be held responsible for libel for information they republish, extending crucial First Amendment protections to do-it-yourself online publishers.

Online free speech advocates praised the decision as a victory. The ruling effectively differentiates conventional news media, which can be sued relatively easily for libel, from certain forms of online communication such as moderated e-mail lists. One implication is that DIY publishers like bloggers cannot be sued as easily."

Excellent.

Xbox modders try to blackmail MS

Haha. Also, how to mod an xbox with a single dollop of solder. Personally, I'm going to get the new version of the Enigma chip and mod the hell out of mine.

"

A group of Xbox-security researchers say they have found a way to run Linux on the Xbox games console without a mod chip and will go public with the technique if Microsoft won't talk to them about releasing an official Linux boot loader.

The group, who have asked not to be named in this article, approached ZDNet Australia after repeated attempts to contact Microsoft independently failed.

The researchers say they want Microsoft to release a "signed" Linux boot loader which would allow Xbox users to run the open-source operating system on the console without installing a chip."
