AlterNet: Angry Rosenthal Pot Jurors Call For New Trial "In an extraordinary condemnation of federal drug war tactics, five jurors who convicted medical cannabis grower Ed Rosenthal of federal marijuana cultivation and conspiracy charges, held a press conference yesterday (Tuesday, Feb. 4) to apologize and to call for a new trial. The jurors said they were outraged to discover that Rosenthal had been deputized by the city of Oakland, Calif. to grow medical cannabis for patients under California's Compassionate Use Act (Prop. 215). The judge denied all but two of Rosenthal's defense witnesses, including the Oakland city attorney who drafted the legal immunity provisions for the city's medical marijuana program. "I fail to understand how evidence and testimony that is pertinent, imperative and representative to state government policy, as well as doctor and patient rights, and indeed your own family, are irrelevant to this case," said jury foreman Charles E. Sackett III, who read a letter to Ed Rosenthal." What a cute! Natsuko has a weblog! "When/If David-san speaks concerning our fine dictator George Bush (he who says we have speech which is free but would like to place us entirely in a Disneyland jail) it is good. Rather than "I am sad" we need "mush truth", need many people! But in regard to his confusion he has shown everyone that thing, instead of doing it. When shouting at me to "get it together" concerning the state of my secret parts (and this is characteristic life), I do not put that in my blog. What a Cute! is attached to just happiness and politics!"

Holy Rollaz.... "A raid at two mobile homes led to the arrest of 31-year-old Jesus Santana, who was caught rolling marijuana cigarettes with pages from a Bible, Limestone County authorities said. "When we arrested him, he made the comment that `I guess God got y'all to get me,"' said Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely."

This is what the Republicans mean when they say "Fiscal Responsiblitiy" "Underscoring the dramatic erosion in the nation's fiscal picture since a record surplus in 2000, the president projects budget deficits of $304 billion for the current fiscal year and $307 billion next year, surpassing a 1992 record of $290 billion. Over the next five years, the White House expects the budget shortfall to add up to more than $1.08 trillion, although as recently as 2001 the government was forecasting 10-year budget surpluses of $5.6 trillion." |
