Everybody here has seen whitehouse.org, by now. It's a parody site of the whitehouse web page, thought up by people that don't like bush and published with tounge firmly planted in cheek. A very good thing, if you ask me. But today, on PRwatch, I find this:

The Cowardly Crusader
Someone who calls himself "Fred Curran" has been creating "parody" websites attacking environmental groups including Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth and the Pure Food Campaign. Curran's parodies, at greenpiece.org, earthfiends.org and purefoods.org, say that Greenpeace "has no credibility," FoE is supported by "thousands of suckers," and the Pure Food Campaign is a "propaganda machine" running an "organic con game." But what about the credibility of "Fred Curran"? His domain name registration lists his address as 1800 M St NW, Washington, DC, which happens to be the address of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. "Curran" lists his phone number as 202-728-7510, which rings at the office of SpiralHeart, "a non-profit organization dedicated to providing education & training in the Reclaiming Tradition style of Witchcraft." Either we've got a witch at the USDA, or Curran is using a fake name, a fake address and a fake phone number. If there's a whistleblower out there who would like to expose his real identity, contact editor@prwatch.org.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm going to be the last person in the world to say you shouldn't be able to make up a fake site with a fake name, etc. But this is quite obviously a subterfuge propagated by the public relations companies that represent the companies (dow, adm, etc.) that are involved in the production of genetically modified organisms, and are essentially deceptive, insofar as they resemble authentic grassroots criticism, and are in fact contrived to fool people.

What do you all think?

Yahoo! News - FBI Monitors Terror Reading

I find it intellectually offensive that the FBI should be interested in the reading that people choose to engage in. In my opinion, it borders on the restriction of free speech, and thus a first amendment violation. Argh. The world is getting suckier.

"...such searches are now legal under the Patriot Act that President Bush signed last October.
...The same law that makes the searches legal also makes it a criminal offense for librarians to reveal the details or extent of the contact."

The CRW-F1 is the first CD-RW recorder to offer the revolutionary DiscT@2TM Laser Labeling System, which allows graphics and text to be burnt onto CD-R disc, eliminating the need for labels. Customers can put graphics, such as signatures, logos, memorandums, and photo images onto CD-R's unused area after data writing. This unique feature will certainly enhance the CD-R recording experience for many users

Ok, so today I changed around the look of the log here, and I also added the ability for anybody to comment on the posts here. Word to enetation for their system. I have also invited friend Jen Palmer to add to this page as well, so I suspect that there will be some posts from her before long. Ah, the sweet stink of progress.

Joe's wedding was a blast. Word up to all my homies that were in the hizzouse. BB, Cousin Bob, I'm talking about you. Congratulations to the bride and groom of course, and may many years of wedded bliss unfold before them.

New Scientist reports that a team of scientists has sucessfully modeled the genetic communication in between neural cells in mice with Parkinson's disease. This could lead to a new understanding of intra-brain cellular systems, and perhaps new ideas about conciousness and brain disorders.
