Damage Control Tactics for the Awful FCC Media Ownership Ruling

I don't know how successful this is going to be, but I like McCain's proposal the best:"In tightening its radio ownership rules, the FCC decided that companies already exceeding the new limits would be permitted to keep their stations. Committee Chairman Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) sought to undo that provision by adding an amendment to Stevens's bill that would force radio companies to sell stations until they comply with the new limits."

The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee adopted a bill sponsored by Sens. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) and Ernest F. Hollings (D-S.C.) that would prevent newspapers from owning television and radio stations in the same city, halt broadcast networks from buying more television stations at the local and national levels and force radio companies to divest some of their stations. The bill's prospects in the Senate and House, however, remain uncertain.
