NWK Eplorer Released "Based on the very same programs that Stephen Wolfram used to create the graphics in his book, A New Kind of Science Explorer allows you to experience the discoveries of the book on your own computer, repeating Wolfram's experiments and trying ones of your own." I must say, this may even be a little to nerdy for me. I still do not quite understand the usefulness of the program as I haven't read the book, but buzz words caught me like Evolution of a Turing Machine and Evolution and dimensional cellular automaton . I couldn't help myself...I was fascinated by all of the things that I couldn't understand with all of the neat buzzwords. I'm silly that way. The only knowledge I could catalog from my memory on Wolfram was a small section of a Mondo 2000 guide book which had an interview excerpt with him concerning his Mathematica software. I remembered being fascinated by the idea that he presented, namely, that he was interested at the time (this is probably 1989-90)in creating a program for quantum cellular automata. That in mind, I checked out an excerpt of this book that the NWK Explorer is based upon. Either this guy is the most pompous man on the planet, or he actually has something to say. Either way, it caught my attention and I will now be forced to look into this book more fully...even if he does appear to condescend his readers. |
